Joanne Cora Bauer a loving mother, beloved sister, and amazing grandmother left us all too soon one cold winter morning. Age 65, of Toledo, Ohio, Joanne passed away Monday, January 14th, 2019, at her residence. Born in Oregon, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ralph G. and Mary Helen “Carroll” Zacharias. Joanne married James Bauer on June 1st, 1991 in Toledo, Ohio.
She was employed as a mail carrier with the U.S Postal service, and became a retiree in 2003.
Many can remember Joanne for her quirky personality and odd sense of humor, but she had so much more to her.
In her early years she loved to travel and spend time with her family. She always had at least one of her grandchildren over to spend time with. She tended to sew and mend clothing for family members (we did have a bit of a short streak going on), even going as far to make clothing for the dolls of her grandchildren. Starting young and going on into her years she even collected dolls herself. You could find lots of porcelain dolls around her home. In her down time, Joanne was a decent card player. She loved to play rummy with her grandkids and a few poker games as well. She also enjoyed gambling now and then; especially the slots. Her favorite thing to do however was watch TV while drinking a nice cold can of Pepsi (her absolute favorite). These tv shows included soap operas, HGTV and Food Network shows, and especially Ellen Degeneres:she couldn’t miss an episode. Joanne will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Mindy (Shaun Temple) Zacharias; grandchildren, Ashley, Alana, Sierra, Shaun Jr., and Donovan; brother, Jim (Carol) Zacharias; sisters, Jean (Larry) Webb, Carolann Zacharias, Sue (Brian) Wyss; step-mother, Carol Zacharias; several nieces and nephews; and pets, Cody (dog) and Maxwell (cat).
Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Helen and Ralph Zacharias; beloved husband, James Bauer (2017); and brothers, Bill and Ralph Zacharias. Now all reunited once again watching over all of their family and friends.
Memorial visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:30pm, Saturday, January 26th, 2019, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at jackman) Temperance, MI, where services will begin at 7:30pm. Thank you in advance to everyone for their prayers for Joanne and her family.
